The first New Dialect album, released late 2011, happened to be a most improbable musical encounter between multi-instrumentalist Patrick Hamilton and painter-turned-singer Élise Lafontaine: a long improv on a Lowery Organ followed by Élise’s inspired ethereal vocal nonsense, afterwards structured into distinct pop and/or abstract pieces. Drums and various other instruments were then added, as well as Brian Lipson’s acute and playful trumpet. Other pieces were created plunging in the session-bank - true collage - but who could teii?
